How does image offloading work?
Upload a single high-resolution image in its original format (JPEG, PNG, GIF, or WebP). We store it and automatically generate all the optimised versions defined by your image profiles — different sizes, formats, and quality levels. Your visitors always get the perfect image for their device.
What are image profiles?
Image profiles define how your images are optimised and delivered. Each profile specifies an output size, format, and quality setting. When a visitor requests an image, we serve the version that best matches their device from your configured profiles. Free plans include 6 profiles; paid plans include 100.
Can I delete the original image after uploading?
Yes! Once your image is uploaded and processed, you can delete the high-resolution original from your WordPress server to free up storage space. OptiPixl keeps a copy and continues serving all optimised versions to your visitors. This can save significant storage on your hosting plan.
What counts as an upload?
An upload is counted each time you send a file to OptiPixl for processing. Your monthly upload limit resets at the start of each billing cycle. Once uploaded, files are stored and served without counting against future uploads.
What types of files can I offload?
All plans support image offloading (JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP). Paid plans unlock AVIF format support and can also offload videos (up to 100MB), CSS stylesheets, JavaScript files, web fonts (WOFF, WOFF2, TTF, OTF), PDFs, and Word documents.
What is AVIF and why is it paid-only?
AVIF is the most advanced image format, offering 30-50% smaller file sizes than WebP. It requires significantly more processing power to generate, which is why it's included in paid plans only.
What is Persistent Edge Cache?
Standard CDNs evict content that isn't accessed frequently, leading to cache hit rates around 70-80%. This means 20-30% of requests trigger slow origin round-trips. Persistent Edge Cache (included in Growth plans and above) never evicts your content, achieving near-100% cache hit rates. Your old blog posts and archived galleries load just as fast as your homepage — no cold starts, no regeneration delays.
What counts as a request?
A request is only counted when an asset is delivered from our network. Assets are served with a 1-year browser cache, so returning visitors who already have images cached won't use your request quota — their browser serves the cached version directly without contacting our servers.
Is pricing per site or per account?
Pricing is per site. Each WordPress site you connect needs its own plan. This keeps resource limits fair and predictable. You can manage multiple sites from one account, each with its own plan.
Can I have multiple sites on my account?
Yes, you can connect multiple WordPress sites to your account. Each site needs its own plan subscription. This allows you to choose the right plan size for each site based on its needs.
What happens if I hit my limit?
We'll send you a notification before you reach your limit. If you exceed your monthly upload limit, existing files will continue to be served, but you'll need to upgrade or wait until your limit resets to upload new files.
Can I upgrade or downgrade anytime?
Yes, you can change your plan at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at the end of your billing period.
Do you offer refunds?
Yes, we offer a 14-day money-back guarantee on all paid plans. If you're not satisfied, contact us for a full refund.
What are cache purges?
Cache purges let you clear cached images from our edge network when you need to update content immediately. URL purges clear specific images, prefix purges clear all images under a path (like /blog/), and full purges clear your entire site's cache. Each plan has daily limits to prevent abuse while ensuring you can always update important content.
Is there a free trial?
All paid plans come with a 14-day free trial. No credit card required to start.
